Although Marqus wasn’t born in the Peace Region, it has felt like home for nearly his entire life. His family moved to Dawson Creek when he was two, and the community quickly became the place that shaped his upbringing. After leaving for university, he found himself increasingly drawn back to the region’s small‑town appeal, the people, and the ability to enjoy wide‑open spaces without the congestion of city life. Growing up racing motocross in the summer and snowboarding in the winter, he appreciated being able to continue those passions without long drives or heavy traffic. With most of both his and his wife’s families rooted in the Peace Region, returning was an easy decision. Accounting wasn’t always the obvious path. As a kid, it wasn’t even on the list. But after working various labour jobs through high school, Marqus knew he wanted to pursue post‑secondary education. He enrolled in business at Thompson Rivers University, believing it would provide a strong foundation no matter where his career led. It was his first accounting course that changed everything — the concepts clicked, the work felt intuitive, and a clear direction emerged. He graduated in April 2021 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in accounting. During his studies, he spent three summers working with the firm as an accounting student, gaining hands‑on experience and building relationships with clients and colleagues. After graduation, he joined the firm full‑time and began working toward his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, which he officially earned in March 2024. Today, as a partner, Marqus brings a practical, community‑focused approach to his work. He is committed to supporting clients throughout the Peace Region and contributing to the place and people that have shaped both his personal and professional life.
